gothic beauty.
The interior of Bampfield Hall is full of David's vast furniture, art, and
accessories collection. From historic family photos featured throughout the house
to the warm rich red colors of the 1930's living room, guests will know that Bampfield

Historical Building:
Bampfield Hall was recently designated by The City Of Niagara Falls, and various
local Historical Societies as a Historical Site to be protected. Mayor Wayne Thompson
was at hand to make the ceremony official.
Historical Notes:
James Bampfield built this second home for his wife Margaret, who apparently never
liked their first house. For generations it remained the property of the most
prominent commercial families in Niagara Falls, and was not sold until 1969.
Architectural Notes:
The house is built primarily in the Gothic Revival style with pointed windows,
a jerkin head roof and gingerbread trim in the gable ends. Its upper structure
exhibits the
Second Empire style elements of a mansard roof on the central tower and iron roof
cresting. The classical style verandah was a later, early 20th century addition. |

Nestled in the former carriage room of Bampfield Hall, is a prized collection
of vintage hats and headpieces, dating back to the turn of the last century.
A handsome gentlemen's display of top hats, bowlers and fedoras is not to be outdone
by the lady's styles, many festooned with feathers and sequins, which
include cloches from the roaring '20s,mop hats, bonnets, and picture hats
One of history's most consistent displays of style and imagination can be found
in each era's millinery. The collection at The Little Hat Museum, boasting over
500 beautiful examples artfully displayed in glass showcases, certainly attests
to that.
